It is the 13th season of the IPL, and it was originally scheduled to start from March 29. But India's sports ministry had issued an advisory to all the National Sports Federations, including BCCI, affirmed that big events couldn’t be avoided, so it should be done without any spectator.
Not just IPL, other sporting events also get interrupted including ATP Tour (Tennis) and the NBA (National Basketball Association). These sporting events are suspended because of the rapid increase in the cases of COVID- 19. Even some cricket series is ongoing without the spectators. Other cricketing tournaments that have been suspended due to COVID-19 are Road Safety T20 series (India), Australia Women's tour of South Africa, Africa T20 Cup, and World XI VS Asia XI.
